How to overcome negative thoughts

To overcome any negative thought first we should know what are negative thoughts and how do they hit us?

Well, any thoughts associated with unconstructive or unpleasant emotional states such as anger, anxiety, depression, pessimission etc. are considered as negative thoughts.

Examples of negative thoughts:

I am not good enough

There must be something wrong with me

I wish I were a better person

I am a failure

I am worthless

I feel disappointed

And many more...

Negative thoughts become stronger, if they are not given up. If the internal or external environment helps in any way, negative thoughts become so powerful that they start overcoming a positive mindset.

Most common factors that affect positive thoughts:

Experience

Common sense

Mindset

Wisdom

Stage of health

Cognitive style

Companions

Intelligence

Now let’s understand how we can overcome our negative thoughts:

The most important thing is that we all must understand that positive thinking takes time to come into practice whereas negative thoughts are easy to grab. Negative thoughts can be the result of overthinking. This happens when we are totally distracted. right prefrontal cortex (PFC) this is the part of the brain which is responsible for your negative thoughts.

Breathing sequence:

Change your brain waves by spending 10 minutes a day breathing in sequence 6-3-9. This will help your brain to get a sufficient amount of oxygen.

Visualize:

Try to visualize a positive situation instead. As your brain cannot differentiate between what is imaginary or reality.

Whatever happens, happens for a reason:

One must remember this golden rule, as whatever has happened, happened for a good cause and you must accept it the way it is.

Change your daily routine:

Try to change your daily routine once to understand the difference, for example: if you wake up late try to wake up early and notice the difference.

Meditation:

The most used and effective tool is meditation; regular practice of mind meditation will grow positivity in your perspective.

Stop Comparing yourself:

Always remind yourself that you are you and you are unique no one on this planet can ever replace you.

Digital Detox:

Try to detox and separate yourself from digital platforms at least once in a week or for a few hours per day whatever suits you best. This will help you to explore yourself more and will dig out your area of interest.

Ask for Help:

This is completely alright, if you are not feeling good you can ask for help from your closed ones or some medical help. You are allowed to do whatever it takes to make you feel better.

Eat Well:

Our diet plays a very crucial role. Fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and whole grains -- has been linked in studies to lower risks of depression and even suicide.

A new study by researchers at the University of East Anglia found that motivation and an upbeat perspective were linked to better success in sticking to a healthy, nutritious diet.

Good Sleep:

A lack of sleep might lead to some seriously damaging consequences, such as depression, stress, fatigue, and anxiety. If you are getting enough sleep, it will flourish the positive mindset but again good sleep is very hard without having a healthy diet.
